"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

10.3 miles - from work/rio grand south. struggled the whole way. i tried several 2 minute intervals during the middle miles to see if that would perk me up but they didn't take. 9:43 avg.

10.2 miles / 8:46 avg. boardwalk loops at the nature preserve. sun-ish, 70's, south wind. the fatigue that zapped my run yesterday was still lingering, though much better than yesterday. i tried to do a progression run but only got through mile 8 and took mile 9 easy but picked it up again for mile 10.

splits: 10:00, 9:14, 9:01, 8:55, 8:48, 8:34, 8:15, 7:58, 9:01, 7:48.

8.2 miles / 8:41 avg. from work - sun etc. after 4.5 miles i ran 4 x 1/4 mi with 1/4 mile rest between. same as last week but my third interval was much better. i did these on a stretch of parkway and i found this easier mentally than on the track. quarter splits were 88, 88, 89, 90. i'll increase the number of intervals next time.
