"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

7 very easy, pleasant, Spring day miles. From the house around the hood. 1.25 of those miles barefoot on the field at the Jr. High school.

10.3 miles / 8:39 avg. Early lunch run from work to Emerald park and back. Overcast, wind, 48 degrees. Felt a little sluggish today so I made sure to push hard up the hills. That always seems to help.

I don't mind dating the treadmill once in awhile. She can be a little redundant, but she challenges my mind.

18.2 miles / 2:36:39 / 8:36 avg. Mostly sun, mid to upper 40's temp, *%@#! wind. Bluff trail/Hooper canal. As usual, my pace is all over the place. The 4 miles from 7 through 10 could be considered a 4 mile tempo @ HM pace, although it wasn't intentional.

Splits: 8:52, 8:39, 8:35, 8:50, 9:06, 8:56, [8:17, 8:06, 8:03, 8:12], 8:28, 8:21, 8:37, 8:43, 8:47, 8:58, 8:39, 8:47, + .2 mi. @ 8:01 pace.
