"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

6 miles / 8:50 avg. this morning while driving i noticed that the rio grande parkway in farmington had been plowed! this is unprecedented! so i drove to an access point and ran from there. taking the parkway all the way to the  the 1/4 mile farmington creek trail that loops around the fairgrounds, which  is also plowed. this means that my work commute run is on when i feel up to it again. also, i don't have to drive to the next town to run on the parkway, which i've been doing as i generally avoid the roads when i can in the winter.

9.1 miles / 8:55 avg. in an effort to shake myself from this life of dedicated inertia i've been living lately, i hitched a ride to work with my wife, therefore committing myself to a commute run home. don't know how wise a decision that is given my recent lack of training, but i knew that if i just took it easy i would be fine. i was fine, and the weather was spectacular. shorts (of course) and short sleeves! a good run.
