"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

7 miles total. 2.5 mi. warmup. 3.12 race. 1.38 cooldown.

Perfect weather. Fun course. Good cause (therapy dogs). Lots of weaving around participants and their dogs. Very little sleep last night. Nausea in third mile is blamed for the slowdown. Still, a 40 second PR. Drove out with Chad (who is on the blog, so I won't say anything about his race), and Josh  (who is not on the blog and so I can tell you he won the race).

So let's see. At TOU marathon, I stay at Paul Peterson's house...and he WINS the race. I share a ride with Josh Steffan to the 5K today...and HE wins the race...interesting.

Splits for race: 7:12, 7:16, 7:29, + .12 @ 6:54 pace.

nice job and great PR. I was wondering where Josh was at our local first dam 10K today, he usually owns this race.

Nice PR. I think I can either host you or give you a ride to your next race. Any chance of you changing your mind and making SLC your spring marathon :)

Come down to Arizona for some warm races. I've got a nice sofa for you to sleep on.

Congrats on the PR.

Rooster - looks like you pretty much owned it today!

Adam - thanks. I'll have my agent contact you to hash out the fee schedule. Lol!

Burt - hey, the sofa. I'll be right at home. (I've been sleeping on my sofa lately because my wife snores).

You must either inspire the other runners or scare them. Great race today.

Congrats on the PR! Nicely done even with the nausea in mile 3.

You will now be everyone's best friend and racing buddy!

You are coming to my next marathon, right? I'll drive down and pick you up.

From april27 on Sun, Nov 08, 2009 at 12:49:12 from 99.188.251.180

I think you are a good luck charm!

Nice PR!

From Lysa on Sun, Nov 08, 2009 at 20:03:14 from 174.52.15.101

sounds cool, wish I couldve been there. Maybe you should ride with me next time I sign up for something.

From JD on Sun, Nov 08, 2009 at 21:05:18 from 166.203.70.233

Carolyn - I'm scaring them for sure.

Jeff - thanks. I really hope to improve as time goes by.

Auntieem - sure. It's only a fourteen hour drive. Plan accordingly.

April - actually, I fell lucky to get to meet such talented runners. I'm always struck how modest and humble they are.

Lysa - let's get together soon and run. This perfect weather isn't going to last much longer.

Nice work! That was a fun race and beautiful weather. I didn't realize there were going to be so many bloggers there! Wish I could've met some of you...next time.
