"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

Still in shorts?

Nice easy eight. What does Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp mean?

From JD on Fri, Jan 08, 2010 at 13:57:06 from 70.96.78.157

No shorts - no way.

Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp is a nice little acoustic piece by Led Zeppelin.

Glad to hear it on the shorts! Here it was 40, shorts for sure!

Auntieem - you guys seem to have missed out on the bitterly cold temps this Winter. Lucky.

April - I'll just say it: this arctic cold weather sucks!

From auntieem on Fri, Jan 08, 2010 at 21:55:53 from 24.17.177.218

Ha, we had a week of really cold, but I was on Maui that week.

I can not figure out how to do a strider in a run, so now you are smarter and faster than me. Nice job this week JD, you have conquered half of winter, just a month and a half to go!

From JD on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 18:56:58 from 70.96.78.157

For me a strider is simply picking up the pace for a few seconds, holding that pace for a few seconds, then slowing back down. Simple. I like to do them during easy runs when my legs start feeling itchy.

From Kelli on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 22:28:29 from 71.219.89.82

It seems simple, yet I can not do it. I pick up the pace, I keep going, then I get tired, then I slow down. Seriously, everyone in my running group makes fun of me, I am like Forrest Gump on the football field. Maybe I should try it on the treadmill?
