"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

there is nothing embarrassing about that. 92.7% of the population: "i'm embarrassed to report that i haven't run one mile since i was born."

you are doing great, JD. hope everything is feeling good?

I'm embarrassed to have you listed on Favorite Blogs-- j/k. That's a great Saturday run, but yeah, I'll bet you were too hot by the end. On the topic of long runs, it's tough to want to go long unless there is a race specific goal on the calendar driving the effort. I haven't jumped up over 13 miles since April, so I guess we are in the same boat. Time to register for a 50k or marathon, I guess.

Boy I am really not good at tracking my comments and responding to them. I'm blog challenged.

Thanks Allie, everything is feeling relatively good. So glad your recovery is going so well - sounds like a great plan going into TOU.

Thanks Lysa, the endurance is slowly coming back..."come to Butthead."

Thanks Kam - yeah, having a specific reason to run long, besides the simple "joy" of running long, really makes a difference in motivation. Nice job on the midnight half last weekend!
