"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

8 miles - 9:00 - from work before work. rio grand parkway. it was near 70F before the sun came up!i was really dragging this morning - my confidence has been shot lately because of the "deep fatigue" episode i experienced a few weeks ago. i'm definitely feeling much better these last couple of weeks, but every time i feel just a little tired i start worrying that it's coming back. anyway, after two very slow warmup up miles i ran a ladder of minutes @ 10k - HM pace: 1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1 / with a minute easy between each interval. the second i began my first interval i felt 100% better. by the time i got to the 5 minute step, i was feeling like an actual runner again, but steadily lost strength after that to the finish.

splits: 9:55, 10:22, 8:34, 8:16, 8:02, 8:46, 9:17, 8:51

Nice workout!!

Glad you're feeling better. Hopefully that deep fatigue won't come back - seems like you're in the clear.

Awesome JD. I have no idea what you are talking about with your ladder stuff. But it sounds cool and all professional runner like.

Iron supplementation..are you anemic? I am. I should take Iron pills but I never do. Maybe I should. What are you taking?

thanks Lysa - i don't know if i'm using the right terminology, but what i did was run 1 minute hard, then 1 easy, then 2 minutes hard, then 1 easy - on up to 5 minutes, then worked my way back down, 4 minutes hard, 1 easy, 3 minutes hard, one easy...

this the iron supplement i'm using. it's only been three days, so nothing's changed yet, except for having the black stools. good times,
