"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

Well I waited until after work to run in hopes the rain would stop. When I started the run it was overcast with intermitent light rain. I could see little patches of blue in the western sky. Most of the second half of the run was in the sun, and 56 degrees temp.

I was relieved to find that my legs were recovered, they've been stiff and heavy for the last three days, but today they felt great. This is my second 70 mile week in a row/in my life actually. I'm pleased that I held up without anything breaking. It was touch and go for a couple of days there though. I think what really helped is that I've been sleeping really well, 7 or 8 hours a night. I still get woken up once or twice to let animals outside, but I always fall immediately back into a deep sleep. It's been years since I slept like this. Apparently, adaptation puts me to sleep. Another thing that made the increase in miles possible was that I ran most of those miles much slower than my usual pace.

Cutting back a bit over the next two weeks to make room for the Ogden Half on the 16th.

Two weeks in a row of 70 miles! That is amazing. I think I have done two weeks over 70 twice EVER! It is painful.

I am glad you are sleeping well, that makes all of the difference in the world!

Have a marvelous weekend.

You are really piling on the miles. Great job! I'm all proud of myself when I do 60. Maybe someday I can figure out how to do 2/days like you and get up into the atmosphere of 70.

Thanks Kelli, you have a great weekend as well. Nice 20 miler this morning!

Lysa - I couldn't imagine 9 months ago that I could run 70 miles a week, but then I started to imagine it...

Carolyn - You want to talk about atmosphere...look at Holt! I think he ran 147 miles this week...madness!
