"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

Lysa did an amazing job organizing this race, which was part of a day of activities to raise money for her 4 year old nephews brain tumor costs. the little guy had brain surgery a couple of months ago and is recovering really well. a great turn out for the race this morning, somewhere around 350-400 runners/walkers. Lysa laid out a fun course around murray park. i warmed up for 2.65 miles and the race was 2.95 miles. i wasn't expecting any pr's or anything out of myself today as i'm currently experiencing some kind of "funk cycle" the last couple of weeks. lot's of dodging walkers, dogs etc. the course had a nice little hill that we got to climb twice, with a tasty little downhill after the climb. there were several friends along the course too and i had a good time just chatting with people and being my usual clown self. really impressive the sponsorship and support Lysa recruited for this event. great weather, good friends, and a good cause. life is good, and we're all pretty lucky to be healthy and live our lives with such freedom and peace these days! Lysa makes a great race director!

now off to "enjoy" the bowling segment of the days activities.

I appreciate your sentiments at the end of the post, JD. We seem to complain too readily and appreciate too little.

JD, THANK YOU for everything you said. For being there ALL day long and for being you. I'm so grateful to have friends like you. I really appreciated the support.

Sorry the course was a bit short..I guess I can't worry about that now. It was for a good cause right?? :) Hopefully everyone had that spirit about them and weren't going for a PR. If so THEY DID AWESOME! If they didn't have a garmin and had no idea it was a bit short. :)Maybe I should just say I did that on purpose so everyone could feel good about themselves. ha!

Thank you again for everything JD. It was an AMAZING day, and I will never forget it.
