"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

I'm sitting here eating pizza. Does that count?

From Carolyn in Colorado on Tue, Apr 20, 2010 at 17:37:08 from 24.8.167.243

I think that counts. I'm not surprised you're tired. It probably is time for you to take a break. Just for a day, though.

This is my last "high mileage" week before descending into taperland. I'm hoping for around 70 miles this week, then 50-60 the following week. Then 40-50 on the penultimate week before the 'thon. Then maybe 20 miles the final week, not counting the marathon miles.

This year I feel much LESS fatigued and worn down by the miles. Not only because I've got a more solid base this year, but also because I'm actually running less miles than I was last Spring. I just hope I've got enough endurance to go 26.2!

From auntieem on Tue, Apr 20, 2010 at 21:13:58 from 24.18.77.246

You will kick butt. Enjoy the great feelin' from those big mileage weeks!

From JD on Tue, Apr 20, 2010 at 21:28:32 from 166.128.223.145

Lysa - I honestly can't even comprehend how those ultras get done. I kn ow that I won't ever do one.

Which marathon are you shooting for?

Thanks Auntieem. I'll probably run some bigger mileage weeks this Summer. AND try for that 6:00 mile. Are you running Newport?
