"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

15 miles - striders winter race circuit half marathon. felt pretty good today. my time of 1:42:19 (7:48 avg) is a pr for me by 32 seconds over a half i ran three years ago. i don't know if it really counts as a pr though because todays course had a lot of downhill whereas the course from three years ago was pretty much flat. however i probably weigh a couple of more pounds now and i have aged 3 years so i'll call it a draw and hope to do better next time.  passed people throughout the run. faded the last few miles but still maintained. about a mile warmup and cooldown.

placed 102/867 (11.8%) overall, and11/44 (25%) old dudes.

7:54, 7:59, 7:51, 7:53, 7:37, 7:36, 7:31, 7:42, 7:54, 7:52, 7:48, 7:54, 7:54, .53 for the last .12

Compared to every other non-flat half marathon in the state, this one is not very aided. That's a legit PR, no matter how you look at it, JD. 4 miles of slightly downhill followed by 9 miles of rollers isn't much of a canyon screamer.

Nice job.

true Kam - thanks for the insight.
