"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

20 miles / 9:25 avg. Commute run from home. 30F, clear skies. Meandered around West Farmington for about 7 or 8 miles then headed North to Layton via the KPT. Got to work around 15 miles, got a drink of water, took a bite of banana, shed my pants and jacket (leaving two layer top and shorts), and ran the rest around neighborhoods in town. Pretty consistent, slow pace until the last mile which was the slowest mile of the run. My legs really started to crumble during the last mile.

Possible Andy B. sighting on the KP,. passing in opposite directions.

Great run! So did you go to work after that run? I'm always at least half dead after a long run like that.

Yeah, I'm impressed that you went to work too! I finished my long one, ate some food, and felt dead for awhile. But, my legs didn't crumble either.

Thanks. I did work after the run. But I did a fair amount of just sitting still as well. I like some activity right after a run, I think it makes the recovery go better. I'll be laying low this evening, and eating a lot.

As for the legs crumbling, it was kind of comical. It was like I had no control of my foot strike in that last mile. My feet would just flop down wherever they pleased. An odd sensation.
