"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

Ran from the house to Legacy parkway trail, out and back. Snowing big fat wet flakes the whole time, 32F, no wind. Surfaces were wet and slushy, a little slippery in places.

Just going to take it real easy this week.

I'm registered to run the Ogden half marathon on May 16th. My goal is to run 1:50 or faster. I'll look for a 5k and/or 10k to run in March and April.

Is the snow clearing out the inversion?

I'll be in Ogden on May 16th for the full marathon.

Were you wearing new shoes today? How did they do in the snow?

From JD on Sun, Jan 25, 2009 at 22:43:11

Hey Carolyn. The current storm front scrubbed the air out pretty well.

Awesome that you'll be in Ogden for the marathon. I'm looking forward to meeting other bloggers person.

No new shoes. It's funny, when I run in wet weather, I think of how comfortable and relatively dry I am, then I get home and realize I'm completly soaked through and through. It's a great feeling!

Is your mileage based on a training plan? It's nice to stay fit over the Winter.

I'm glad to hear that your muck is gone.

My mistake. I thought new shoes because I was looking at the line that showed the mileage for the shoes just for this run, but was thinking that it was the total mileage for the shoes. Silly me.

Yes, I'm using a training plan. It's the intermediate marathon plan from Run Faster by Brad Hudson.

Oh man, all the cool people are going to be at Ogden. And I was *this close* to registering! Dang. Well, maybe another year...
