Since it's an easy week for me I'm trying a little experiment. I'm not going to run today, I'll run 4-6 miles very easy tommorrow and then a long run on Sunday. I usually take Saturday off, but I've been wondering if it's better to run just a little the day before a race/long run/hard effort. So, we'll see if this works for me.
On another note, Snoqualmie has a discussion about cadence counts on her blog yesterday. I've never really thought much about how many steps I take each minute, but the discussion got me thinking so last night on the treadmill I counted my steps for a minute. I did this three seperate times at different paces, and each time my count was below 160! What the heck. I've been reading how the average should be between 160-180...so, is this something I should work on? Are my strides too long? Will my average pace per mile come down if I work on increasing my cadence? So many things to wonder. |
