"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

It rained all night. When I woke up, snow was falling. I drove to work in a snowstorm. I'm so happy I could puke.

PM: 8 miles on the treadmill. The weather had cleared up quite a bit, but it was still chilly with the wind. I had gotten myself all worked up about a TM run after work, so I stuck with the plan. I ran miles 3, 5, and 7 at HMP (7:54), mostly just to break up the run a little.  8:35 avg.

It's going to be 70 tomorrow. This is just a bump in the road.

What's up with the snow. I talked to my in-laws this morning and they said it was snowing in Orem. Crazy.

look on the bright side; at least your shirt wasn't soaked and stuck to your back from the sweat you generated walking the half mile to campus this morning

(i had just taken a shower, too...)

Where is global warming when you need it?

From JD on Mon, May 24, 2010 at 13:32:04 from 70.96.78.157

True Andy, though it's been a pretty bumpy road this Spring.

Carolyn - that's surprising given that Orem is much further South than we are. Usually South = warmer. Nutty.

Nevels - yes, the bright side...I'm keeping my eyes out.

Snoqualmie - apparently global warming is alive and well!

We got about 6 inches on our deck, nothing stuck to the roads, and within an hour of the storm stopping EVERYTHING was melted. WEAK storm, but it was pretty this morning!!! See, give me a taste of the heat (which we have had a little of the last few weeks) and I LOVE the snow!

My dogs puke when they are happy too, and sad, and sick, and upset.

That slick snow is probably more dangerous to drive (and run?) on than the winter-type snow, so be careful!

From Kelli on Mon, May 24, 2010 at 16:18:45 from 71.219.93.114

It was just a big slushy mess, not scary to drive in at our end of the valley! but AWFUL to try and run in, BIG PUDDLES.

From Lysa on Mon, May 24, 2010 at 20:13:50 from 174.52.15.101

Good Job JD, The TM was happy to see you. The snow would have been rude to you anyway.
