"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

I just ate an entire Little Caesar's cheese pizza. Approx. 1500 calories, 200 grams of carbs, 80 grams of protein. Let's not discuss the fat and cholesterol content.  Don't try this at home!

Running after work, tonight.

PM: 5 miles of easy trail running love on the fire break road. Sunny, 62 degrees.

Yeah for fat and protein! Boo on carbs. At least that's what I think but am not so good at practicing.

I had no idea that a Little Caesar's Pizza had so much protein! Thanks for sharing. We have Little Caesar's, but I though it was just a local chain.

More importantly, how can you even THINK about running after you consumed so much pizza?

I am a "yea on carbs and protein" and "boo on fat" kind of gal myself ;-)

Dean has been on the Paleo diet - also anti carbs - but even he probably wouldn't do this diet if he was running. I kind of tried (it was hard since I am vegetarian) and my running was horrible, I was tired the whole two week and just couldn't hit my faster paces easily at all. Maybe I just didn't give it enough time ... but my vegetarian diet, with plenty of carbs, seems to work ok.

I really have been eating well, and very little the past few weeks. My weight is down below 160 pds. 5 more pounds until I'm back to my high school weight. I just had to pig out today. But I am trending towards less frequent binging in general.

JD - in my opinion, that is the most important thing. It is not "one" thing you eat every-once-and-a-while, it is the moderation of eating most of the time. Binging on anything is not optimal ;-), even running. Of course, I am a control freak, and have a tendency to go overboard on the self-discipline. I do, however, love pizza a lot ;-).
