"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

7 miles / 9:50 avg. on the hill infested fire break road before work this morning. Post rain, 60 degrees.

So for the last two years I've been slowly, carefully, working my legs and feet into more and more minimalist running shoes. I feel the the shoe I ran in this morning is my reward for this effort. The New Balance MT101 is a trail shoe I've been anticipating for months; it was finally released Oct. 1st and I got a pair in the mail yesterday. All I can say is: YES!

i've been awaiting their arrival as well. i heard a little feedback from the mt100's, and was curious about the improvements in the 101's. i'm planning on snagging a pair in the next month or so to test them out, and i'm getting pretty excited about the NB minimus line, too(have you seen the promo video anton krupicka did for them?)

YES!

Nevels - I have seen the video. I think it can only be good for a shoe maker to get some first hand input from a hard core runner like Krupicka. BTW the 101's are truly great. At least for 7 miles. They have a really nice, unobtrusive feel to them. Best of all though is they look great, green and all.

That is so cool!

That is great patience and dedication. I'm glad it paid off.

AMEN JD!! I ordered two pairs of the 101's the moment they became available and test drove them on a 10 miler over the mountains saturday...nothing but love over here for those fantastic shoes. Thank you Anton for inspiring New Balance is all I can say!

Thanks Aaron! It's evident someone who really cares about running had some input in designing this shoe. A true runner's shoe for sure!

It's funny because I don't usually get all that excited about shoes. I think if they weren't so cool looking but still just as functional, I wouldn't be so thrilled. But just looking at them makes me want to run.

I can feel the giddiness in your voice

From Aaron Kennard on Fri, Oct 08, 2010 at 17:35:36 from 24.8.144.22

I hear you JD - I just got my second pair - in black and white - this afternoon, and they are that much sexier than the green ones...really tempting me to get out there for a 2nd run!
