Slog-O-Rama.

 

Early lunch run. 5.7 miles. Sunny,  79F. Bluff trail.

Started feeling a little light headed/weak after a couple of miles. This happened a few months ago, and I remembered that it only lasted maybe a mile and then passed.. I wonder if it's a fuel issue. Like maybe I've depleted my carbs and my body is switching over to fat burning mode. I consumed probably about 1,000 calories between today's runs, in a period of  4 hours. So, who knows.

My total mileage for the week ending today is 71.8!

wow, a truly impressive number of miles. I like your theory of lightheadedness from switching to fat burning mode. I have felt that happening myself, and it does seem to go away. I try to help it along, by suggesting places where fat might be lurking for fuel. Please, I say, take no more upper body fat!

I have a similar issue with light headedness... In my case I am about 99% certain it's not about switching carbs to fat because it happens too early in the run, and when I'm not going very fast... Do you drink coffee or are you a sugaholic like me? My theory is that my lightheadedness happens after a caffeine or sugar burst goes away... it's like a shock that lasts a few minutes and then your body gets back to regular sugar levels... of course i'm making all this up :)

Auntieem - It's probably wishful thinking about the fat burning, I've got a 100 miles supply in my midsection, so I could get by on fat burning for a long time!

Rocket Girl - I can't contribute it to coffee because I drink the same amount everyday and have cut way back on sugar the last couple of months. So, I don't know. It's only happened twice over the year, also early in the run and only for a few minutes. It's such a weird feeling!
