"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

10 miles / from work. Kind of an interesting run. The first 5 miles I wasn't feeling too great and was at 47:27 (9:29 avg.) so I thought I'd just head back and make it an easy 6 mile day. But then I realized that I was feeling warmed up and loose, so I tried picking it up. I ran the last 5 miles in 41:24 (8:17 avg.). So I'm glad I didn't quit.

Splits: 9:57, 9:19, 9:31, 9:40, 8:59, - 8:26, 8:27, 8:26, 8:08, 7:56.   / 8:53 avg for the run.

WT 66.6 miles

* Over the summer I had gotten in the habit of inconsistency , missing 8 to 10 days a month. So for September I'm trying to get back in the habit of running everyday. I've missed one day so far, and have run the last 18 days in a row. Other, more experienced runners are always saying consistency is key to becoming a stronger runner - I'm learning that this is definitely true.

Sometimes it takes a while to feel good! I felt the same way as you at the beginning, but my choice was to go home :)

consistency is definitely the key (says the one who hasn't run for five days straight...)

you are doing great this month. nice job on your run today, especially that strong second half.

Awesome run JD. Good job sticking it out and then having that pay off!

Thanks Andrea - given the awesome workout you had yesterday - your morning run today seems just right. I know you'll probably get a couple more miles in before the day is through. I won't.

Allie - you are such a slacker.

Thanks Lysa - optimism usually pays off.

Wow. That's super cool. Definitely something exciting to write about today (see L's blog).
