"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

streak is over. 117 days. for weeks i've been mentally battling myself over this and i guess i let it get away from me. i actually suited up today very late this afternoon and got about a quarter mile in before i realized i just couldn't continue. but it's not just mental. something feels very off physically - today my feet felt heavy and cold and my hamstrings felt uncharacteristically tight. anyway. life goes on. i run for enjoyment, and i wasn't enjoying the daily drama of trying to get that run in just for the sake of the streak. for some reason it wasn't a problem in 2012, but this year i can't hack it. of course at the moment i feel like ogden marathon is out, but i'll let that ride a few days and see how i feel after a few more runs.

yes, give it some time. 117 days is a mighty fine streak -- you are due for a mental and physical rest/recharge. i am sure you will bounce back just fine.

you should crack open a beverage.
